Better requires process discipline and simplification

We’ll be looking to you to be the trusted technology advisor to the Vice President of the Engineering Architecture organization.  You’ll serve as the “on-the-ground technical voice” for a wide variety of cross-functional initiatives for the leadership team.

 

Your responsibilities will include knowing how to navigate internal networks, build internal consensus and lead a team of technology experts.  You’ll be working with engineering and business partners to define and build out complex solutions driving value through business process simplification, automation and new product capabilities and innovations.  You’ll create the vision, strategy and plan to build high performance and large-scale, real time systems that scale to billions of money transfer transactions per day.  You’ll be assessing business needs while providing creative and effective solutions in conformance to emerging technology standards.  You’ll be placing a strong emphasis on the customer journey, product quality, performance tuning, troubleshooting and continuous development within the team.

 

For such a pivotal role, you’ll ideally have a bachelor’s degree in a computer science or related program and 12+years of experience or even more desirable, a master’s degree with 10+years of experience.  You’ll be able to provide a proven track record of successful software architecture design and implementation at the enterprise level.  You’ll be able to express proven track record of understanding the business and the ability to contribute to technology direction that drives measurable business improvements.  You’ll need to have demonstrated capabilities in assessing business needs while providing creative and effective e solutions in conforming to industry technology standards.  You’ll have significant experience with architecture design concepts and techniques and the ability to communicate and evangelize these concepts to internal stakeholders and external partners.  You’ll have excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, OOPs and OOA/D.  You’ll have demonstrated experience in modern programming languages (for example Java/C++) and design patterns.  You’ll have hands-on experience in building a microservices based architectures and platform developed and deployed at scale.  You’ll have hands-on experience in Java/J2EE, SML, Web Technologies and Web Services. You’ll need to have experience with agile development methodologies with Test Driven Development (TDD) and CI (Continuous Integration)/CD (Continuous Delivery.  It would be nice if you have experience working within the financial services industry as well as experience in Cloud (AWS/Azure/Google or Hybrid) based architecture designs and implementations.   Finally, part of the WU culture is constantly working towards a lean/agile environment and you strongly embrace these concepts.
