We’re seeking a Director, Risk & Credit Finance, based in our Finsbury London office. In this role, you will be responsible of directing independent, comprehensive credit review and risk assessment of the customer risk profile and credit decision making for all segments and products of Western Union International Bank (WUIB) UK and Europe, including Switzerland and Malta.

  • Definition of the WUIB Credit Policy and other relevant internal regulation
  • Steer credit review and risk assessment of the new transactions/clients/limits, including pre-review of the potential new clients
  • Ensure timely and professional credit decision on the transactions including contract extensions/roll overs/modifications etc. according to the valid approval matrix
  • Steering client rating calculation and review, including update on the external rating changes
  • Ensure timely performance of regular customer review, including definition of adequate strategy/actions for watch-list clients
  • Oversee Credit Monitoring team in execution of agreed strategies for watch listed customers
  • Define credit standards, templates and tools and ensure their consistent utilization
  • Prepare regular and ad hoc reports for the internal and external stakeholders
  • Undertake training on credit risk standards both of Credit team as well as of Go to Market team
  • Actively participate in WUIB Risk Committee meetings
  • Responsible for functioning of the Credit department in line with available standards and best market practice.
  • Position is entitled for individual approval authority for credit underwriting according to the company standards
  • Position is voting member of WUIB Credit Committee
What you will need to succeed:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in credit and risk management, in financial institutions or any similar FCA regulated entity with minimum 5 years in a people management role (managing teams of 7+ FTEs at least)
  • A university degree in Finance or Business (or equivalent) or relevant professional qualifications
  • Fluency in English (oral and in writing); fluency in other languages of WUIB footprint countries (i.e. French, German, Czech, Polish) is strongly desirable but not condition
  • Experience of a matrix organization in an international environment
  • Excellent computing skills with all common office programs
