We’re seeking a Director, Markets Compliance, based in our Toronto, Canada office. In this role, you will assist the businesses in identifying and mitigating regulatory and reputational risk and ensure that all applicable regulatory requirements are met. You will advise the business, in conjunction with the WUBS legal department, on applicable regulations and market practices relevant to the WUBS business, including with respect to foreign exchange derivative products. You will promote a culture of compliance and providing ongoing current compliance training.

• Oversee and implement continuous development of WUBS compliance markets compliance program including:  policies, procedures, systems and training and the applicable regulatory requirements
• Communicate, in conjunction with the legal department, all relevant regulatory changes and updates to the business 
• Support the business in implementing derivative regulatory rules and changes
• Review and update assessments of the control environment, tracking control issues, and remediation efforts
• Prepare and conduct periodic and mandatory annual training
• Continually acquire and enhance knowledge of business strategies, policies, regulatory requirements, and changing technology to effectively assist in the provision of business solutions
• Assist with the establishment and implementation of markets policies and procedures 
• Determine the applicability of compliance initiatives on the WUBS business across the region, analyze their impact on the business and assist with formulation of strategic Compliance plans 
• Follow the development of current and new laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, and market practices within the region and assists the business in establishing policies and procedures that satisfies the requirements of the relevant law and business requirements
• Work with the business to identify, assess and mitigate Compliance risks 
• Assist in the preparation of any monthly and quarterly reports 
• Ensure any issues identified in internal and external audits are resolved 
• Assist with any regulatory inspections and examinations of WUBS and relationships with WUBS internal and external auditors 
• Assist with the investigation and documentation of escalated complaints
• Other ad-hoc projects for supporting operational and regulatory needs 

What you will need to succeed:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is required in Business, finance, law, public policy, economics or accounting 
• Extensive experience in a managerial compliance role in a Financial Services organization
• Experience with Foreign Exchange products such as spot FX, Forwards and Structured Options
• Strong knowledge and command of Foreign Exchange OTC Derivative products, working understanding structure of derivatives transactions as well as the basic finance principles
• Demonstrated knowledge of the recent regulatory reforms including the Canadian provincial securities regulations & Dodd Frank Swap rules; practical impact on the business, operations, and related technology 
• Knowledge of the regulatory infrastructure and requirements of Trade Reporting 
• Ability to analyze and to interpret information critically 
• Strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills and is comfortable interacting with staff at all levels globally  
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment 
• Ability to focus on detail while also considering the “the big picture”
