We’re seeking a Director, Marketing (Acquisition, Activation & Activity, Performance media, brand and agency management), based in our Hammersmith, London office. In this role, you will support our digital marketing efforts within Europe and CIS regions. You will lead a small team of digital marketers and analysts who have responsibility for furthering Western Union’s presence in the digital world. You will work closely with the in-country marketing teams across 33 countries in the region and have responsibility for the marketing planning and cadence and oversee the budget for the region.

 

Although the key focus of this position will be on digital marketing it will also have oversight on our traditional and operational marketing campaigns.

  • Keep up with the rapidly evolving technologies and capabilities within the digital and social media marketing worlds;
  • Be responsible for team success in working with other product and marketing teams within the EUCIS market ensuring all groups meet their KPIs;
  • This team will be counted on to be the experts in utilizing and driving digital marketing efforts that result in Western Union’s continued success in growing this area;
  • Help plan the EUCIS digital marketing strategy under the product and marketing heads of the EUCIS business;
  • Assist in managing our media agency to ensure a comprehensive plan is in place contemplating all digital marketing capabilities;
  • Recommend changes as required based on ongoing monitoring of performance;
  • Oversee through the local teams some complex, but effective digital media campaigns that can deliver value proposition message across several digital touch-points and out-acquire the competition;
  • Be the digital voice in the EUCIS market and lead the group’s efforts in this critical area driving accelerated growth for both money transfer and payments.
  • Work well over matrixed organization of different regions and different channels to build off brand and in-house intelligence of financial space and to optimize cross-channel campaigns
  • Work seamlessly with other central teams including digital product, brand and others to identify key requirements and leverage assets that will assist in driving growth.
  • Manage the analytical framework that measures and tracks our performance including selection of marketing tools.
  • Help build a culture of innovation and digital ingenuity in a marketing organization.
  • Possess the ability to manage projects from inception through execution by being strong leader but fostering teamwork to build and implement
  
What you will need to succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or equivalent preferred. Master’s degree highly desirable.
  • 10+ years of marketing experience including specific digital and social media marketing expertise.
  • Proven experience across Paid, Owned and Earned Channels (agency experience a plus)
  
Skills & Competencies required:
  • Experience with multi-tiered marketing implementation, demonstrate knowledge of regional nuances and challenges in the digital marketing space.
  • Success in managing high-performing teams in a consumer or financial services business. Detail-oriented, highly analytical and data- and results-driven approach.
  • Solid background and understanding of the importance of omni-channel efforts.
  • Proven discipline, drive for results and ability to make commercial decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage operational budgets with sound judgment utilizing external resources.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and people manager capabilities with the ability to set a strategic direction and priorities within a complex business. Multi-cultural experience desired.
  • Experience in a global consumer brand or financial services company.
  • Digital Advertising Industry experience: Experience with either an advertiser, agency, or publisher in the digital advertising space (web, search, or mobile) preferred.
  • Mobile Experience: Experience in developing strategy and executing in mobile marketing preferred.
  • Research or analytics experience: Highly analytical and research-driven marketers are preferred for this position.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills that spans cultural differences
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills.
